Dexia Activation Festival stand
Event: Dexia wants to help youngsters and is aware of the fact that in times of crisis young people who like to go to festival are hard hit. That is why Dexia not only gave a five euro discount on festival tickets, together with FFWD they also helped them keep a tight hand on the purse at the festival. It was not thrown in their laps though. The Dexia promotion team gave away scratch cards to different passers-by. If the card had a code, you were able to participate in the bonus jump on the Jump-O-Matic. If you were able to enter the right code while jumping you could win food or drinks vouchers at the festival. Wrong code? You still received a nice consolation prize. A successful first collaboration between Dexia and Fast Forward Events with numerous festival-goers rearing to go…

Alken-Maes Festival stand at Pukkelpop
Event: 20, 21 & 22 August 2009 - Festival site Kiewit. Alken-Maes' "Bakstage" at Pukkelpop did not go by unnoticed. The gigantic LED wall immediately drew festival-goers' attention and was in proportion to the enormous size of the stand. The "Maes Bakstage" was no less than 12m long, 6m deep and 7m high on which two teams of two people were invited by a promotion team. On the stage a life-size puzzle with empty Maes crates posed the challenge. The first person to make the Maes logo with crates, was able to take his cold Maes beers everywhere he went on the inflatable Maes tray.

Alken-Maes – Put your beer crate out
Event: How do you distribute 24,000 crates of Maes in Flanders or 12,000 crates of Maes in Wallonia? Alken-Maes set this logistics challenge to FFWD. No less than 90 drivers in Flanders and 54 in Wallonia were given a van fully loaded with crates of Maes. They criss-crossed Belgium in a couple of days in search of empty crates of beer. The drivers followed an efficient and ecological route once they'd left the different logistics centres. A logistics operation which did not go by unnoticed in the national media either.

During this half-yearly recurring event, VMMa presents its new programmes to the gathered advertisers. A show element cannot be missing of course! Leave it to FFWD which, using exquisite decorations and furniture plus sound & vision”, submerged the VMMa building in an atmospheric orange glow with white and black accents. Time and again the FFWD crew manages to surprise the media giant with its refreshing approach, hence the solid partnership.

Incentive De Persgroep
Event: Publisher's De Persgroep treated its hard-working online sales force to a great two-day break in Amsterdam at the start of March and asked Fast Forward Events to organise this again. First of all, the close-knit twenty-(wo)man team explored this Northern metropolis by carrying out a number of assignments. Then they followed the guide to the unique House Of Bols, an interactive journey through cocktail history including tasting session and workshop. And because the team was staying the night in Amsterdam, the town was painted red! A classic example of FFWD-bespoke work! Fast Forward always goes all out, not matter how small-scale the event !

Actimel Wintertour 2011
Event: For “brand designer” Strategie Design, Fast Forward Events launched a hard-to-miss activation concept for Danone Actimel in February/March. It took place in frequently visited shopping centres and stations in 14 different Belgian cities. Of course it wasn't just any sampling campaign, FFWD came up with an attractive stand concept. Passers-by who wanted an Actimel could win their health boost by playing a tailor-made skittle game, the “snowball game”. In short, besides the brand, bystanders were also activated and at the same time the very essence of the product was underlined.

Sony Playstation Benelux Tour 2011
Event: In 2010 Sony already made an extensive tour along festivals, fairs, shopping centres and all kinds of events. In 2011, this high-tech highflyer has simply continued in the same way, again working with Fast Forward Events. Only recently the game caravan was at the European BMX Championship in Zolder and the Made In Asia fair. This travelling game Walhalla is set to visit many other family events in the very near future. The concept remains unchanged: three awesome plug & play game containers - which can also be used separately - where the target group can test the latest Sony Playstation games and innovations.

City of Ostend at EMIF fair
Event: For the second year running, FFWD was commissioned by the City of Ostend for the European Meetings Industry Fair (EMIF), a fair that targets European professionals in the sector of meetings and events. Ostend, "the Queen of Belgian sea-side resorts" likes to profile itself as a hospitable business accommodation and FFWD translated this ambition into a modern design stand. To attract more people an animator was hired who – wearing a tailored suit but rolled up trouser legs, flip-flops and sunglasses – posed with visitors on a surf board. It was a matter of combining the best of both worlds into one attractive stand concept.

Alken-Maes: adopt your keg of beer
Event: Alken-Maes' merciless marketing offensive continued unabated in 2011 with another prominent role for Fast Forward Events. Commissioned by Belgium's coolest beer brewer, Fast Forward Events gave away kegs following a huge mediatised stunt. What else are you going to do with 6,000 five litre kegs you can't get rid of in your new offices? Beer friends were able to register on 2 April in Ostend, Ghent, Brussels, Antwerp, Liège, Mons or Namur with their “adoption certificate”. After barely 43 minutes, all 6,000 kegs had found a thirsty but willing adoptive family. Great idea of Alken-Maes and ditto logistics by FFWD!

Opening Carglass Learning & Development Center
Event: Carglass guarantees the expertise of its personnel. Proof of this was provided at the end of March when the entirely renewed training centre in Hasselt reopened. In addition to training, the environment is also a key issue at this Learning & Development Center. FFWD managed to illustrate this aspect for the attending press, insurance brokers and major Carglass clients. Natural decorations, a Segway, solar panels and an actual oxygen bar provided the green touch, snacks and drinks were available aplenty and Buscemi got people to dance. Interesting guest speakers and demonstrations formed the informative part of this perfect opening event.

Alken-Maes Family Day
Event: Alken-Maes has been housed in a brand new office complex in Mechelen since the beginning of March. Barely a few weeks after the move, the new location was the setting of the annual Family Day. Fast Forward was in charge of the staff party and transformed the first floor of the building into an enchanted forest where small children could get face-painting, take part in an adventure run and make things in a special workshop for children. Higher up in the building, partners and kids were welcomed to mum or dad’s workspace and on the fourth floor you could follow a DJ workshop, play on PS3 consoles, try Yrwall digital graffiti and do a tap course. In short, all tastes were catered for and everyone was happy.

Electrolux Summer tour
Event: Last year Scandinavian home appliance specialist Electrolux and Fast Forward Events joined forces for the Electrolux Summer tour. This travelling event visited the largest Belgian coastal towns and introduced the general public to the amazing qualities of the Ergorapido, a dust buster/vacuum cleaner hybrid. Mission accomplished, because at the request of the participating seaside resorts and Electrolux, the Electrolux Summer tour will be resumed in 2011. In fact, it is already on track again and made its first stop in Blankenberge and Nieuwpoort in April where a number of fortunate people successfully completed a round and won one of these high-tech vacuum marvels.

Come a Casa tasting
Event: Who can resist the ready-made gourmet Come a Casa food? Very few people it seems! At the end of April during a three-day brand activation in Brussels-Central, Antwerp Central Station and Ghent-Sint-Pieters, Fast Forward Events put up summery stands in prominent locations in the respective station halls where hungry commuters could help themselves to a delicious serving of Come a Casa pasta with salmon. Like salmons swimming upriver, the plates of pasta were floating on the water of the Aqua Mover, an ingenious transport system that went all around the stand. A high-profile and successful tasting session which, without a doubt, provided a great deal of exposure for the customer.

Grimbergen Rituals
Event: Grimbergen is a beer with history, which we already know from the dark bass voice of the commercials. But did you also know that this abbey beer was originally drunk with walnuts? When the beer brand was relaunched, parent company Alken-Maes wanted to restore this ritual. Fast Forward Events was asked to come up with a suitable backdrop for this creative event at the Alken-Maes offices and recruited two monks who acted as hosts. Dressed in their monk's habit they informed the staff in the morning what awaited them after work, i.e. a ritual tasting of the beer of the phoenix in harmony with a peppered walnut.

Samsung Snowjam 2011
Event: From 16 to 23 April, Les Deux Alpes in France was the pearly white setting of the Samsung Snowjam 2011, the biggest winter sports event of the year. By daylight the best Belgian riders wowed the crowd in daredevil disciplines such as big air, half pipe, boarder and skicross and slopestyle. World champion Seppe Smits was victorious in this 'exotic' Belgian Championship. The cream of the Belgian music scene (Triggerfinger! Sweet Coffee! TLP!) was responsible for the ambiance during the après-ski and Fast Forward Events for the branding of main sponsor Samsung. Beach flags, tent, rails for the slopestyle,… everything was there and ready to make sure Samsung was very much in the spotlight.

Unscene, an unheard-of Maes spectacle!
Event: A music event with a top-secret line-up at an equally mysterious venue? The audience transported to the gig in 73 coaches with blindfolds on? Sounds crazy... Fast Forward Events has done it. Over a hectic three month period, FFWD, in close co-operation with TBWA and the Maes marketers came up with “Maes Unscene”, an ultra ambitious marketing stunt that was extensively covered in the media and for which tickets could be won. On Saturday 28 May the secret was finally out. The approx. 3000 lucky few were dropped at the Heysel by the Maes buses, where an unparalleled pure Belgian music extravaganza awaited them with home-grown top acts such as Vive La Fête, A Fire and Janez Detd. Not only the music was loudly welcomed, so was the lightshow, a daring feat accomplished by crossmedia company Mojuice using the so-called “3D architectural mapping” technique. This is a scoop for Belgium because it's the first time it has been integrated in a big show such as this one. Unseen? Without a doubt. Unforgettable? Absolutely.

Carglass Family day
Event: Around mid-May, Fast Forward Events was commissioned to organise another project for Carglass – this comes on the back of the successful reopening of their Learning & Development Centre. For one whole day the provincial domain of Puyenbroeck was converted into an adventurous Expedition Robinson site for the Carglass Family day. Undaunted participants were able to show how brave they were in the daredevil programme, which included a high rope course and a death ride. The free programme was for participants who preferred making a raft or walking over the surface of the lake in a life-size waterball. Bamboo sticks to construct a Carglass logo could be won which, in turn, entitled them to a prize. A show hosted by Martine Prenen and Olivier Schalbroeck and an excellent barbecue were the finale of the next level staff party.

This year the event was held in sun-drenched Malta and organiser De Persgroep Advertising called in Fast Forward Events to co-ordinate and organise activities, the transport, conference rooms, you name it. It wasn't simple organising an event such as this that met Belgian standards. And of course these participants (about 200 people) are no strangers to these kinds of events. But Fast Forward succeeded brilliantly, which was apparent from the unanimous praise we received. The first edition of this important charity event in Wallonia took place in Namur on 22 May. Main sponsor Samsung Mobile asked Fast Forward Events to take care of the logistics. The challenging wavesurfer, the Samsung pick-up truck with deejay and the obligatory inflatable arch which marked the start created a great atmosphere in Namur's city centre. Fast Forward Events came up with an “in-bar” concept with promotional people wearing silver capes and fur hats who nestled themselves next to customers in ice chairs to have their (polaroid) picture taken. The cherry on the pie of this personnel survey was FFWD's Yrwall during the AXA Action Days Roadshow for a tour along the national AXA head offices. The VIPs at the Ostend theatre festival were invited to a reception on board of the Mercator training vessel with speeches of Johan Verminnen and Josse de Pauw. Sabam made an appearance at the city festival in Leuven in the form of a big, attention-seeking white container. At the Peace celebrations, the main (hot air balloon) event of the Waasland, FFWD built a Telenet stand where visitors could pose in front of a photowall in a hot air balloon basket. The resulting photograph was given to them. At the EuroSys computer fair, visitors were able to play Pacman on a giant screen at the Telenet stand. Anyone who thought they recognised the location of the Maes keg had to drop whatever they were doing and make their way there where 5 small kegs and 5 chillpacks were up for grabs. The idyllic recreation park De Ster in Sint-Niklaas was the ideal location and was divided into 4 coloured zones. People were able to eat in the picnic zones in the open air and the cast turned up for signing sessions and photographs for/with the fans. Event: After the first edition in Wallonia in May, Antwerpen Zuid was the setting at the end of September for the Race For The Cure, a symbolic run and walk for people who have been directly or indirectly affected by breast cancer. Samsung is one of the main sponsors of this good cause and contracted FFWD to organise a suitable backdrop for this hopeful Indian summer's day. The modern Samsung lounge tent took centre stage where visitors – apart from relaxing – could have a go on the digital Yrwall graffiti revolution. There was also a relaxation zone for participants, fringe activities for young and old, live music,… in short, all the ingredients you need for a successful family event.

Carglass: (re)opening of branches
Event: Carglass is doing well. The car glass specialist has plotted out a year-by-year course for a complete make-over of a number of existing branches as well as the opening of new sites. It was Sint-Martens-Latem and Charleroi's turn recently and, as always, Fast Forward events was asked to organise a stylish event to highlight these (re)openings. In true Carglass spirit this came with the obligatory drink and snack, but also with a company presentation and animated demonstrations of how to repair those small cracks in your windscreen. Nice bonus: one of the visitors found an actual diamond in her champagne glass…

Vision Customer event
Event: Under the motto of “Enriching people”, Ghent-based service company Vision has been active since 1999 on the market of personal development, presentations and communication. Following the Vision Group’s reorganisation, Fast Forward events was asked to organise a refined customer event at the end of September at Vision's offices. Introduced by a short explanation of the driving forces behind the company, guest speaker and digital Visionary Peter Hinssen took the floor. A greatly appreciated walking dinner within a stylish setting was the ideal formula for extensive and productive networking among the guests and concluded this small-scale quality event.

Coca-Cola @ I Love Techno
Event: Coca-Cola has always been an important partner of 'I Love techno', the annual celebration of beats and bleeps in Ghent. And this was no different for the sold out 2011 edition, where the 35,000 partying people could not miss the biggest of all soft drinks. This was all to do with the impressive Coca-Cola stand, a zone submerged in a red glow that took up roughly 400 square metres of the central hall of Flanders Expo. Fast Forward Events was wisely involved in this undertaking and was responsible for the design and construction of this promotion/sales stand. And if you weren't there: check out the photographs.

Beer Feast @ Carrefour
Event: Okay, good wine needs no bush and the same applies to good beer. But what right-minded Belgian would want to miss out on a “Beer Feast”? Don't imagine a wild party. This was a cross-brand in store promotion in 43 Belgian Carrefour stores to promote Belgium's national product number 1. A selection of beers of big breweries such as Alken-Maes, Moortgat and Inbev were central in this promotional week, which ended with a two-day tasting session in the store. FFWD supported this logistics tour de force – stands, filled refrigerators, promotional people, bar,… in 43 places at the same time nationwide – and passed with flying colours. Cheers!

Uncharted 3 launch
Event: Video games are big business. The official launch of a top game such as Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception could therefore not go by unnoticed. Sony Playstation contracted Fast Forward Events for an event commission with the following brief: “evoke the oriental mystery of the Jordan desert in Brussels' event temple K-Nal.” On paper almost as impossible as the aforementioned Drake's dangerous missions, but then you don't know the FFWD crew. Water pipes, belly dancing, a snake charmer, a Bedouin tent, oriental carpets, palm trees,… these are just some of the things FFWD used to add lustre to this game release. Without a shadow of a doubt: “mission complete”.

Playboy Party @ Casino Knokke-Heist
Event: With the memorable Playboy @ The Beach in August 2010 in mind, the Dutch Hugh Hefner believed it was high time for a second edition of this titillating event. Ostend was exchanged for the slightly more fashionable Knokke-Heist, where the local casino was turned into a party mansion on 8 October. Think of flirty Playboy bunnies hopping by, sensual dance music – this year by house topper Sandy Rivera and Porn King TLP – and a sumptuously decorated top location with a range of VIP options and an actual Playmate casting. The fact that this is better left to FFWD was fully endorsed by all the hot playboys and girls after the party.

O’Neill Rider Initiatives
Event: If you wanted to witness amazing antics of incredible wave chargers in a historic theatre setting, you had to be in the Vooruit in Ghent on 26 November. The O’Neill Rider Initiatives – a movie/party evening managed by FFWD – drew about 900 aficionados to the Theaterzaal and Balzaal of the culture temple. Eye-catcher of the movie part was Fighting Fear, the story of two Australian “big wave chargers”. For the European tour of this surf movie, Mark Mathews and Richie Vas were physically in the Vooruit. This simply cried out for an afterparty. The theme was the “Double Overhead” concept which is synonymous for “the heavier stuff”, or Fiesta with a capital F!

Maes Unscene spin-offs
Event: Maes Unscene, the musical surprise spectacle that coloured our spring, had a new sequel. Maes asked Fast Forward Events to translate this tried and tested event concept to a pub setting. A practically impossible mission, but “impossible” is not in FFWD’s dictionary. The fronts of all participating outlets were given a huge Maes Unscene-makeover using powerful projectors, to the dismay of non-participating pubs in the immediate surroundings. The interior was also adorned in Maes blue and the DJ's playlist was compiled thanks to an iPad-app by the pub locals to liven up the party. Party-arty everywhere!

Samsung Christmas bash
Event: Because it is that time of the year again – fir tree in the living room, mulled wine, multicoloured presents, you know the drill – Samsung organised a big Christmas party on 11 December for staff and customers plus their partners and children, about 600 people in all. FFWD was asked to organise this family event and chose the magical castle of Groot-Bijgaarden. Welcome, decoration, animation, catering,… everything bathed in a warm “winter wonderland” glow, including the mini Christmas market on the castle grounds. The icing on the Christmas cake was that every family was able to adopt a party-ready Norway spruce that was delivered the following week to their house.

Jim Big Live & Q-music Party
Event: Belgians always find a reason to party. Take the tenth anniversary of radio station Q-music, celebrated with a big show and party, 10 hours of live music and more than 50 artists. FFWD provided logistics support with the Maes Music Box, the Maes DJ Stage and both branded bars of the beer brand and Smirnoff. Jim Big Live, a marathon broadcast connected to a public event with celebrities, musical acts and more such fun, was also given the benefit of FFWD's expertise. Saturday 5 November 2011 Fast Forward Events, working closely with Jim, organised a Desperados Party, with DJ Fresh (from hit single “Louder”) behind the decks, break-dancers, party promos and the single-minded tequila beer.

Opening of Maserati showroom
Event: In a previous newsletter we informed you that Italian luxury car manufacturer Maserati was to be housed with the Ghent-based ACG group. Well, since 13 January this can be taken quite literally because this is when the “grande apertura” of the brand new showroom was on the calendar. FFWD was contracted to direct a high profile opening event around the Maserati time line, visualised with 15 stunning old-timers. And if that was not enough in terms of prestige, the modern design furniture, custom-made for the occasion, and the exquisite Italian-based catering, was right up Alfin catering's street. And yes, in terms of aesthetics the hostesses were on a par with the renowned racing cars.

Staff party De Persgroep
Event: Just before new year, the employees of media company De Persgroep were expected at the Tour & Taxis events site in Brussels for their annual staff party. This is the fourth time De Persgroep entrusted the organisation of this party in FFWD's capable hands. The set up was quite traditional – reception, speeches, sit-down dinner, dance party with DJ Sven Ornelis – albeit it with a twist. On arrival and at the reception the guests were drinking to the end of the working year in a curtained off circular tent, but after the last speech this was hoisted up with the necessary spectacle to reveal the dinner tables. The transition from dinner to party was heralded by a flash mob of dancers dressed as waiters which immediately set the tone for a big party.

2012 Motor show: Kia, Toyota and PlayStation
Event: As usual, the FFWD crew set up camp again at the motor show, with 'stand out' stand concepts for Sony PlayStation and new accounts Kia and Toyota. PlayStation's high technology Vita was an exclusive première. Vita is the successor of the PSP and visitors were able to test the gadget and then have to wait nailbitingly to the release at the end of February. The Kia stand had digital street art with the Yrwall, including artist, and the possibility to print and share on social networks. For Toyota the focus was on the hybrid range of the Japanese car constructor, its ecological strengths were highlighted by an actor and a sampling promotion from a life-size water bottle.

Alken-Maes staff party
Event: 2012 will undoubtedly be another unforgettable year for Alken-Maes. And what better way to start off the year with a great staff party? Apart from the obligatory PowerPoint wizardry and the watering and feeding, this party organised by FFWD was extra special because of the 360° concept, where every Alken-Maes brand was given a spot in a stage-managed day-to-day setting. More specifically, an actual living room, a pub, garden and nightclub, the latter obviously in Desperados party outfit. And, in passing, a crateful of inspiring new marketing promotions was presented, which in 2012 will again be the topic of many a Monday morning chats. Quench that thirst!

The flame was lit at the Sportoase site in Leuven for the occasion. This is the idea behind the Table, a delicious game plus marketing campaign for which advertising agency LDV United and FFWD joined forces. Consumers are able to win the Table by suggesting original locations on the Come A Casa Facebook page. The first winner was allowed to invite nine friends around the Table at AMUZ, a church in Antwerp converted into a music temple. The Table is sure to turn up in the most unexpected places in the course of 2012. Any suggestions?

Event: Over the past year, Fast Forward events sent our promotional duos of rebellious chicas into Belgium's nightlife to prepare party-goers for Desperados, the Tequila Flavoured Beer. Because of the circumstances playing a game was probably the best way to do this and anyone interested was challenged to play Desperados Roulette, albeit without the fatal outcome. Losers were encouraged to pay a round – which is only right – but were given a Desperados bandana by way of consolation. All courageous souls taking part also received a Polaroid of their actions!

Event: Social and mobile media are increasingly being used in television programmes. The Voice van Vlaanderen, with very high audience ratings, is no different. But what you don't see on TV, is FFWD's hostess team unleashed on the public before and after the live shows. Holding a Samsung Galaxy tab they got people to guess via Facebook application “The Samsung Singer” which English song a cover singer had given a Dutch twist. A handful of high-tech prizes were in the offering, obviously. The vocal talent in question will even personally mingled with the audience during the final shows for a live action twist to this eye-catching promotion.

Maeskar On Demand
Event: Maeskar out and about again! In 2011 the classic Maes van toured Belgium to let the unsuspecting population sample the – at the time – new Maes. Mission accomplished, because now the “new & improved” Maes is well established in beer capital Belgium. But don't you agree: this charming and mobile sampling stunt is simply screaming to be continued? Enter Fast Forward events. In 2012, they believe the beer van has only reached cruising speed thanks to about fifty “sample trips”, this time entirely on demand. Event: Smart telephones deserve a smart sales channel. Don't be surprised when a so-called Telenet Smartspot turns up in your favourite shopping area. These concept stores focus on “all things” mobile technology and are aimed chiefly at a young target group. Fast Forward events sent out a promotion team to student cities to - armed with door hangers and a personal approach – lure young boffins to the Smartspots. They could win a snowboard trip, hence the appropriate winter outfit of the promotional staff. Smart, this combination of flyers and guerrilla marketing.

Tom Lanoye signs, Grimbergen serves
Event: To celebrate the literary spring, readers received a literary gift, Heldere Hemel, in the second half of March with every purchase of Dutch-speaking literature. This short story by Tom Lanoye was the Book week gift and formed the spearhead of a short book tour along participating bookshops. Grimbergen has linked – with FFWD's logistical support - its impressive name to this promotion. This is how it went: the writer was driven in a Grimbergen car from and to the different signing sessions, and lectures. And all the book worms drunk to spring with a free Grimbergen Blond. Tap car in Plopsaland
Event: Because amusement parks can be quite testing for shanghaied parents, Alken-Maes dispatched a tap car to Plopsaland. Not just any old van, but a magnificent and authentic vintage Citroën HY. Fast Forward events converted the inside of this four-wheeled legend into a beer bar, painted the outside and decorated it with hand-painted lettering. Yes sir, it was quite a night, unless twisting dancers with snakes and mysterious beauties in fluorescent bodypaint are a fixed part of your weekend routine.
